Qld: Accused mosque arsonist appears in court
BRISBANE, April 9 AAP - A man accused of setting fire to an Islamic mosque after theUS terrorist attacks collected newspaper articles about the fire in a Tupperware containerunder his bed, a court was told today.
Terrence George Hanlon, 23, of Kuraby, is facing a committal hearing in the BrisbaneMagistrates Court over the blaze which destroyed a mosque at Kuraby, in Brisbane's south,on September 21 last year.
The court was told he regularly impersonated police to get half-price fast food.
Hanlon's ex-girlfriend Natalie Evans told the court Hanlon filled a super-sized McDonald'scup with petrol and methylated spirits and headed in the direction of the mosque on thenight of the fire and then told her to look out his kitchen window to see what he haddone.
Ms Evans said she turned Hanlon in after they broke up last October following a caraccident which put them both in hospital.
