A small out-of-state bank and an Everett-based drive-through coffee chain have plans for a new presence in Whatcom County, and they're both starting with the purchase of property on West Bakerview Road in Bellingham.

Christian Kar, the founder and president of Espresso Connection, a retail chain of more than a dozen drive-through coffee shops in the Pacific Northwest, is in negotiations with Harold and Irene Walton to purchase a property directly across from Windermere Real Estate, which is at 515 W.
