United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) A permanent organization set up by the UN in 1964 to encourage international trade, particularly to help developing countries to finance their exports. Under its auspices the UN Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) was established in 1989 to provide finance for international commodity organizations to enable buffer stocks to be maintained and to carry out research into the development of commodity markets.
